Default Air (not a/c) compressor running

2010 RX350, FWD

I just went out into the garage and heard something running. Walked around the back of the RX and it sounded like it was coming from under the rear. I couldn't pinpoint it so I opened the garage door in order to open the rear hatch. By the time the garage door had opened, whatever it is had stopped.

Do these trucks have air compressors for the suspension? That is what it sounded like. Is it common for them to intermittently run while the vehicle is off?

Also, if there is no compressor, what else could it be? I thought maybe the rear hatch motor but it really sounded like it was coming from underneath.

This question comes up periodically. As I recall, it's an air circulator bringing fresh air to the gasoline vapor filter. Anyone else?

Close raylor. It's probably the fuel evaporation leakage check which is mentioned in the owners manual. Completely normal. Here's one of threads describing it.

As Anita said, it's the fuel evaporation pump running. Sometimes in the evening if I go into the garage to get something I hear Watson (RX 450h) and Lola (Corvette) passing gas together as they sleep .

Cruiter:
"Passing gas together" is hilarious! Let's give it an acronym. FELC, Fuel Evaporation Leak Check, or Fumes Everywhere Like Clouds. Maybe "The midnight monster in your garage" : )

Why not PG for a single vehicle and PGT for more than one?

Must not be fun going into your garage in the evening, Jim. LOL! Sometimes when I'm detailing the RXh, I jump from the noise. You'd think I get used to it. Nope.
