CA Registration Fee?
Hi guys, we have a 2014 RX 350. Just got the bill for next years registration fee for $357. Seems a little high to me. What are you guys paying for registration on RX?

'11 RX350 - $306 on 10/22/14
You paid $51 more for a car that's three years newer. Sounds about right to me.
I think many previous year's registrations were discounted under the previous governator.
I think our present governor repealed the discount, not sure.

Paid $311 on 12/1/2014 for 2011 RX 350 here in CA.
Since your in CA, you can calculate your registration at the DMV website in advance so there's no hidden surprises when it comes to registering your vehicle again.

Just paid $334 for my wife's 2013 RX350. I believe the followings are the same throughout CA
-Registration fee:$70
-Smog Abatement fee:$20
And these might be depending on counties:
-License Fee: $225 (tax deductible)
-County/District fee: $19
Which isn't so bad! I lived in Connecticut and cars' owners have to pay excise tax (or property tax) every year. It depends on the town one lives in and it could be very expensive. A $40k car would cost us over $1k/year in Connecticut (on top of Registration fee).

I just paid $386 this month for a '14 RX. Variables would be what county you live in and the price of the vehicle you paid when purchased (the more options, the higher the price). If you paid sticker (or more) in order to get a better price on your trade-in, you will pay more registration fees over the years.

I disagree. I think the sales tax we pay is based on the price and the location of the sale. The registration fees are based on the VIN and the county in which we live. At least that's what the DMV web page says.
In any event, it all seems too much!

And I agree the registration fees are also based on the county where you live. Some counties charge extra for certain traffic/road fees. And Calif charges $8.75/yr for tire fees.
