Default New RX350 with 4 months on the dealer's lot

My wife and I found a RX350 we like. Perfect color and options combination. The only problem is that this car was on the lot for 4 months. It is brand new though. Only 11 miles. Do we worry too much? Please advise.

Yes, I think you're worrying too much. It still brand new. Being on the lot for four months is hardly a "problem".

There is zero reason to be concerned. You found a brand new vehicle that has essentially not been driven with only 11 miles. As long as you and your wife are happy with the options, colors, and price you pay your dealer, there is nothing to do but take it home and ENJOY THAT NEW RIDE!

Use this to lower the price. I am sure they want it off of their lot. Don't give in!

Just make sure it has the most recent updates to things like the GPS maps for instance. Am thoroughly disappointed in how old the maps are in these new '15 models. We have a ring road here that's had the most recent section open for about 2 years and it doesn't appear in the maps as yet. Checked a new NX on Saturday and same thing.

OP, to this point, assuming you are looking at a RX with Nav, v14.1 of the maps is the latest and greatest that came out this past Fall. As you sit in the RX with it ON or in Accessory Mode, press the Map Button, then select Info/Apps, then Map Data. Towards the top on the right side in all the numbers you should see a date with 2014 in there somewhere. If not, as JasDmw suggested, it's a good negotiation point to have the dealer update your maps before purchase. (FWIW, my 2013 was one of the first off the Fukuoka production line and delivered to me in June 2012, but as crazy as it may be, I have maps from Fall 2011 which were then still current at the time my RX was built -- I checked before I signed my name on the dotted line. )

For others, one can always go to THE LEXUS NAVIGATION SITE to see what the latest available version of maps are for any Lexus model, as well as what's changed between levels. Maps are typically updated every Fall, and yes, in my personal experience the lag seems less in some parts of the country and with certain types of changes (like interstates and interchanges), vs a new subdivision I lived in the burbs of GA where IIRC it took 2 years after I moved in to hit Google Maps and 2 more to ripple through onto a Lexus map update.

Thanks for the link above.

What worries you about the time on the lot? It could be a color that no one wants, have way too many options, too expensive, etc...

It only has 11 miles, so they're not even getting many test drives for it...

If it makes you all happy...buy it!

Make sure to check for door dings, as it's been sitting there for a while, especially if you are in the Philly area.
Take a test drive and verify that there are no vibrations from the tires being in one spot for long.
Other than that, enjoy the new ride! 4 months is not that long.

+1. assuming it's in brand new condition (no dings, scratches, etc), I wouldn't be worried that it's been on the lot for 4 months.

Make sure no rodents have made a nest in the engine area.
