Default Navigation Nanny Override

Found this product on the HS250 forum (my commuter car). It lets you program the Nav system while driving. It does cost $174.99!

I found this for $3.50:

You can put it on the speed sensor going into the Nav. It does the same thing.
P.S.
Ground the Parking Brake input while you are at it. It will allow to play DVDs in motion then.
That would come in handy on road trips.

do you have any information on where to find the speed sensor wire and how to ground the parking brake?

Blue wire #18 on the Nav connector is the speed sensor. That's where the switch would go.
Right next to it is White(?) with a Blue stripe, #17. That's the parking brake one.
You cut it and the end going to the Nav unit needs to be grounded. There's a ground wire on the same connector. You can just connect to it. I believe it is brown in color. If not, then it would be white with a black stripe. Those are typical ground wire colors in a Toyota.

Essentially, that's all Nav override systems do. They cost an arm and a leg because they are using plug-n-play connectors. Some may have timeout logic when they cut the speed sensor. When the speed sensor is disabled, navigation operation stops and the bread crumbs no longer track. All other functionality is unblocked.

Educationally speaking, so when the switch cuts the speed sensor signal you can enter your destination on the fly, but nav is not tracking? Then switch the speed sensor back on and it starts tracking with the newly input destination?

That's pretty much how the override systems work.
I have not done this to my RX just yet (only for research purposes ), but that is the information I have come across. So far, I have only grounded the parking brake wire.

Here's the DIY:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...50-rx450h.html
It's a pain to get to the 4 bolts on each side of the Nav unit. So easy to drop them inside of the interior and never recover. I removed mine and never put them back in. I actually put sticky masking tape around the wrench to hold the bolt in place while I pulled it out.
