oil change intervals
Bought a 2012 cpo with 20k miles back on December 3rd.2014. I have driven 3k miles since? is it time to do an oil change? Does thre lexus dealer use synthetic?

No, I don't play soccer!
The oil change interval is one year or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Lexus switched to synthetic back in 2010 on the RX so that's what the Lexus dealer will use.

Thanks jdshaw. I was doing too many things at once and didn't check what I wrote before posting.
I'd suggest registering your RX on the Lexus owners' website to see when the last oil change was done. The reminder light will still come on every 5,000 miles but it can be reset using the steps in this thread.

Intermediate
8K km in Canada. I'm on the 7K mark now. Checked the oil and it still looks newish even after a long cold winter. Amazing what synthetic can seem to do. I'll change it once snow stops which may be May.:-)

Same here. It's ridiculous how Europe oil change intervals are different (longer) from NA.

If you really want to get the most out of your oil, stick with one kind and send a sample of oil drained from your factory recommended oil change interval to an analysis lab, such as Blackstone or a John Deere center. They will be able to tell you if you can go with a longer interval or tell you that you have wear going on and that you should switch weights/brands.
