This used RX has been a nightmare so far. In the shop again, this time because the driver side AC is not cold but the passenger side is. Shop told me they are doing a system evac and recharge but I don't think that is it. My son's Yukon has a dual air setup and the blend doors are issues on those.
I think something similar is happening with the RX but I am not familiar enough with them to know.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It sounds like you may have the same luck I do when it comes to buying used cars! I solved my issue by only buying them new. I can't decide if it costs more, or saves me money to lease new cars, but I do know that I enjoy driving them more without wondering what's going to break. That said, a Lexus is one car (maybe the only one!) that I would consider buying used. They are exceptionally reliable, and the service is expensive but superior. Usually. I know that isn't al that helpful in dealing with your issue, but sometimes it helps me understand to know there are others in the boat with me. I don't suppose it was a CPO, was it? What year, and how many miles?
I agree that a recharge won't fix it. Make the explain why they think recharging the system will fix it, if it works in half the car. It's something in the air flow management system. Most important in my opinion, is to not get frustrated.
Be patient, and develop a good relationship with the service writer. They can be invaluable in helping to minimize the inconvenience and stress, and they will fight a good fight for you when necessary. I would even recommend that you introduce yourself to the Service Manager and/or the General Manager. It can't hurt! It will be worth the effort when they get everything straightened out,

the system needed to be charged. They did, however, add the dye so they can find the leak once it loses the charge again. This is all being covered under warranty it's just annoying.
I always buy used cars but only those that are still in warranty. This is the first one I have had any problems with.
