Info for your 2012 is in the Owner's Manual p268 for load limits and more trailer info beginning on p273. HERE are those sections of the manual for your reference. The answer varies based on if you have 2WD or AWD and if you have the towing package or not, so I won't try to replicate all that here.
An OEM "Towing Package" is 2 different options -- one is the "Towing Prep Pkg" that includes a transmission cooler and heavy duty alternator/radiator, and then the "Tow Hitch with Ball Mount". Of course, if you still have your sticker, those items would show there; your dealer can look them up based on your VIN; you could look up the detail for your VIN via TIS but that will require a 2-day $15 pass . I'll have to let someone else suggest what the visual difference is if you have the transmission cooler and different alternator/radiator, as I've only owned the towing prep package versions on my RX400h and RX450h.

Thanks Again.

#1...NO it's NOT 3500lbs
#2...Key word here is "unless"
#3...No, I do not have the towing package, hence #1
#4...And YES, I CAN tow anything but ONLY up to 2000ilbs.

I do not have a tow prep package (didn't want it!), and will not hesitate to tow. I own a mini trailer for the trips to Home Depot and such.
I would take 2,000lbs as a recommendation. The only thing that may be useful in the tow package is the transmission cooler. Other than the non-advertized trailer lights controller, which can be easily replaced with a generic.
I used to tow my mini-trailer with the Prius. I've got a ton of looks.
Even with 1,600lbs it did really well for a short distance haul.
