Well I got to learn about the dreaded rubber line issue the hard way today.
Im driving my 3rd used rx , a 2010 350 awd and it starts peeing oil all over the street in heavy traffic, smoking.
I turned it off towed it home. One of the rubber cooler lines shown in pics in this thread started leaking. A thin stream of oil was jetting out of the line. Not shown clearly in pic, a quart of oil under the car. I was lucky to notice before more than a quart shot out.
I wonder if a 2013 RX450h has the rubber hoses? I guess I'll have to go under it to see.
Anybody know if this affects the 2013 RX450h model year? I did a search and did not see any......

Thanks. Makes me wonder why Toyota/Lexus did not use metal lines to begin with? They just have known, but just wanted to save a few bucks, I guess.
Also did you know the oil filter canister in the LX570 is plastic while in the Toyota Venza (same size and interchangeable) is metal??? Does this mean plastic one in the LX570 lasts longer and more durable than the metal version????

Hello
I have a 2010 Lexus Rx 350 and the oil cooling rubber pipe busted on the highway and massive oil leak. Now i fix the cooling pipe with metal pipe and the car wont start, Its completely dead. Battery is good and also i try jump start it wont work either. Any idea whats going on with my car.
When some one states the car won't start ... it is not a precise statement .. it does describe an out come but not enough to provide an answer. You may get answers but hey will be a shotgun answer which may or may not hit the target.
After repair, with the transmission in park, mechanic must turn the front main pulley at least two turns. This determines if the engine has seized due to lack of lubrication.
When you say the vehicle does not start, is the starter able to spin the engine? Also explain completely dead --> does the instrument cluster light up?
Thank you for the reply, Mechanic replaced the oil cooling pipe and try to start it wont start and he said may be the battery has not enough charge.
then he tried jump start with a battery jump starter it did not start either.
May be look like engine may be seized. i will try to crank manually
My question is if engine is seized the car can go powerless completely
instrument cluster wont light up after we try 3-4 starts
I took the car to one of the toyota dealershp and they couldnt figure out whats going on. They say multiple problem. One is alternator because the battery wont hold the charge and second the motor wont crank manually. Any idea is that correct.
If the motor won't turn manually, you need a new motor or a new vehicle. Depends how much you want to spend and if the rest of the vehicle is worth spending the money. I would also contact Lexus corporate as there is the extended warranty for this rubber oil cooling line failure issue and see if they will help, although I have doubts they would buy you a new motor...You never know.
If not, I would put a used engine in as opposed to the much higher price for a new one. There are plenty around as this engine was used in several Toyota & Lexus vehicles. I would also shop for installation prices. Around here in the DC area, Brandywine used auto parts is so large they have their own installation shop! Or it may be better to sell it for junk and get a different vehicle. Depends on your needs and finances.
