Absolutely no experience. I am estimating it is 1/2 price of software in your area

Only if you want to pay the dealer a couple of hundred dollars for it to be updated as they are the only ones who can update it. It requires Lexus only hardware and software.
I would just get a phone mount and use Google maps if you need to use GPS a lot. Or buy a Garmin.

There is new data release with new models. Typically they are available every October/November in US. Since there is construction all the time, that means the new map data is old the day it is put together.

I second Clutchless' advise.

I'm trying to think what the wise Scotty Kilmer would say about these nav updates and having to pay a dealer to have them updated. I think he'd just go bonkers lol

It is plug and play - you'll just need to take apart the dash a bit to plug in the wires as needed.

Grom isn't Apple certified but their CarPlay APK is solid and reliable. I've been using it for months and now with the new update it's great! It gives me Google Maps, Waze, & Apple Maps as options (all downloadable) as my navigation option through my factory screen. It's the cleanest install and Grom does a great job supporting it with frequent OTA software updates.

$500.00 plus and take the dash apart on a 5 year old vehicle? What could go possibly go wrong. My option will be just use your phone or buy a Garmin and move from car to car.

I have the same question, 2010 RX450h with gen6 nav, been calling dealerships to get 2019 updates but am being told that gen6 will only be updated to year 2018...don’t think this sounds right, is Lexus really stopping updates on 10 year vehicles ?

i have a partner who works at a Toyota dealership and did some research for me. iyam told the nav systems are only updated every four years with the last in 2018 and the next update planned in 2012; for what models is unknown.

AND, do the updates involve just the mapping system or navigation/sound features as well ?

i have run Toyota products exclusively wince 2003; experienced outstanding service/support at dealer level with little effort visible above that level. to date, Lexus support has been nearly luke-warm at best.

it does. currently updates are available through 2018 ($335/dlr update, area dependant). unable to obtain any consistent/verifiable information about long term plans.

Default On Nav Screen Option to “upgrade software”

Thank you for all your tips. Was watching some videos and saw the upgrade software option come up on the navigation screen and I’m just wondering what that is? Would that upgrade my navigation? If not what does it upgrade?
In the past you have been able to buy the necessary things on eBay to upgrade your navigation but I’m not sure you can with this HDD model. If anyone does know, please share. thanks
Otherwise what would be the best way to get my NAV upgraded for a discount at the Lexus dealership?

I have a lexus 2015 350.

I got hit with $1000 the side view mirror was acting up and it was out of warranty.

Does anyone else hate the outdated navigation system?

Where can I get the car detailed in Northern Virginia (Stafford, Fredricksburg, Woodbridge)

You paid 1k for a side view mirror?
Yeah the Nav is old but works ok. But I don't even use Nav on my newer cars. It's Google maps all the time.
