Looking at Buying an RX
Hey guys...I am new to the forum but am coming here looking for some answers and thought that asking them in one thread would help. We are looking at replacing my wife's 2011 BMW 328i with an RX350 AWD. We would like the comfort, Premium and Nav packages which gets us to an MSRP of $48860. Not really that bad considering a comparably equipped X5 would be close to 60 (although it can tow where the RX really can't. I have full size pick up so that doesn't really matter).
We are also new to Lexus so I am trying to understand how to get the best bang for my buck on this purchase. We are also considering getting a pre-owned RX to keep costs down.
Over in the price paid thread, it appears that 8.5% is the magic number or 44706.90 ($4153.10 off), although some people are claiming upwards of 13% or more than 6k off. That seems great and would be very interested in a new one if I could get in the 41-42k range.
With that being said, our dealer has some used 2015s (assuming loaners) with 6-10k miles on them for 43k. This does not seem to be a good deal unless we could get them down into the 38k range correct?
2012, 2013, & 2014 models seem to be all in the 30s commensurate with their age. Here is a where I have a question. The certified program gives a 3 year/up to 100k total miles warranty right? But it is from the the date of the CPO purchase not necessarily added to the 4 year 50k new car warranty right? So for example a 2014 CPO with an inservice date of 7/1/14 would still have the original warranty expire at 7/1/18 or 50k miles and the CPO warranty would expire 7/26/18 (using todays date as purchase) or 100k. That doesn't seem all that great. Would it make more sense to buy one without the CPO and add an additional warranty (does Lexus offer one?)
Thanks all!

You are correct. CPO warranty time goes from your purchase date, mileage goes from when it was new.
You can purchase a Lexus extended warranty while the car is still covered by the original bumper to bumper warranty. You can shop around for that as some dealers will discount the warranty.
You can also extend the CPO warranty, but only at the time of vehicle purchase.
Look around on the Lexus website, I think the warranty extension program names and descriptions are on there somewhere. Once you have those you can call any dealer sales/finance department and get quotes for Toyota/Lexus warranties. Make sure they aren't quoting you a third party warranty.

well just sent out the first emails through the purchase inquiry feature on the 5 closest dealer. Haven't really gotten much traction other than one dealer sending me pre-owned info that i didn't want (too old-said i would look at 14s and 15s only if pre-owned) and used 15s that are priced at what a new one should be. Any hints?
