These videos scared the poop out of me. I guess I'm getting too old. I kept thinking I hope he doesn't blow a tire.

It mildly amuses me that my car came with (and specifies) V rated tires while the car's only S speed capable.

you do realise that the speed rating relates to handling capabilities at speed as well right? sticking H tyres on an RX, going at 100mph and comparing it to V tyres, you'd sure as hell notice the difference in terms of changing lanes and steering response.

Meh, I dont really see what all the fuss is about - I can sit at 124mph all day long with one hand on the wheel in my RX, its not exactly unstable at speed - actually, it gets MORE stable the faster you go.

The computer doesn't interfere with speed at all.

Perhaps, although I've read a lot of tire info - and never did I notice that mentioned as a criterion for determining the speed rating (I gave up my SAE handbooks when I retired).

I'd bet that nearly any Load Index 101-rated tire would handle the RX at legal speeds just fine.

Is your check engine light on and you are doing 260 km/h?

Congrats on your S6, from your posts I'm pretty sure this is the type of vehicle you should have purchased from the beginning. Not sure why you even considered an RX at all.

BTW, since your engine light is on as chandlervt mentioned above, you may want to have that checked before anymore high speed runs.

Enjoy the Avant

LOL.

I love the RX because it is a very nice crossover, however it is a good thing that the RX can only do a max of 112 mph on American models.

Most cars slated for the European market have a stiffer suspension set-up than the cars that ship to the US.

Even Mercedes and VW soften up the suspension on most of their cars shipped the US compared to their home market.

Judging by the RX in the videos, the European RX seems to be properly equipped to be used on the Autobahn.

However, it only goes about 18 mph more than the American version(210 Km/h is actually only about 130 mph) and still seem a bit floaty at that speed.

I used to be stationed in German when I was in the Army and had to pleasure of driving on the Autobahn with a Euro-spec Ford Focus.

That car was a very different car on the Autobahn compared the American version of the Ford Focus that a friend of mine shipped over from the States.

In a straight line I would drive the RX to 100 mph, but not on any roads that have curves or big dips.

Even the Euro version in the videos seem very unstable going into curves because the driver had to switch lanes just to get through them and the car was still a bit unsettled.

The RX is a smooth cruiser ,nothing more even if it does have F-sport on it.

LOL.

That how is goes, someone buys a used high performance car and it usually have an issue.

Hopefully the OP get that fixed before he starts complaining about his S6 engine failing on the Audi forums.

The check engine light is on because the O2 sensor needs to be replaced or wait was it the brakes! Jk, about the brakes. Let's see, do I expect the car to be perfect and more reliable than my 2013 RX F-Sport, well no. I paid $7K for an Audi S6 Avant that has 85K miles on it. If I hate it after a year then no big deal. Right now I'm having fun driving an AWD V8 gas hog that's more fun than the boring and reliable Lexus RX. I'm not getting rid of my RX but if I had known I was moving to Germany when I bought my Lexus I probably would have gotten something else. As it is I have two cars, one for fun and one for reliability.

Is the Audi S6 Avant blazing fast, no but it can go faster than my IS350 on the top end and has almost as much room as an SUV on the inside. $7,000 cash will not break my bank but now that I have it I wouldn't mind the Audi C6 RS6 but that's more than I want to spend for fun, even if I find a nice used one they are still about $35k but oh the fun it would be. 590hp here would be a blast. Alas, I'll just drive my Bahn Beater for the next year or two and we'll see how that goes. Hopefully see gets me to Zurcih this weekend without any issues, I can't miss Florence and the Machine! I could always take the Lexus and play it safe and slow.
