New Owner Questions
I’m a new member here and just purchased a 2013 RX-350 with 22K miles in Claret Mica and Parchment interior, premium package with BSM, Nav, back up camera, and it went thru the certified pre-owned process. This is my first pre-owned vehicle, as I usually buy new and hold forever. Its replacing a 1997 RAV4 that had 235K miles on it, and we’ve had two other Toyotas that went well over 200K before they were retired.
I have two questions for the group and a give back to the community of some info that I haven’t seen posted.
The vehicle looks almost brand new, and I’ve registered on the Lexus website and know that it has had all of its scheduled maintenance with no other reported issues. I’ve also experienced first hand Toyota reliability and like to do some maintenance work myself to save money. On the other hand, this is a complex vehicle with a lot of electronics and electrical components that would be expensive if they failed. Can you give me your thoughts on whether a Lexus extended warranty makes sense for me in my situation (DYI, keep forever) ?
Second question – After I got home, I noticed that the plastic panel between the shifter and the glove box had a lot of deep scratches in it. I’ve tried several different products to remove or at least reduce the scratches without success. When I returned to the dealership several days later to meet with the Technology Specialist (what a great perk !), I ran into my salesman and mentioned the deep scratches and he said that the CPO doesn’t cover cosmetic issues. Is that correct ? If so, then I’ll buy a replacement panel and install it myself. If the CPO certification should cover it, what should be my next step ?
As for something for the group, I asked both my salesman and the F&I guy about an extended warranty and they both said that the new L Wrap extended warranty pricing will be coming out March 1. Not sure if anyone else has heard that.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and comments.

We also purchased a '13 CPO RX350, and noticed several cosmetic scratches and even a small dent. They told me the dent wasn't covered so I'd asked for the manager. He called me back and said he will take care of it. I'd say it's worth asking for the fix.

I would not buy the extended warranty.
My 3rd Gen has basically had routine service, three sets of tires (about to buy the 4th!), a new battery, and not much else. I have 165k miles on mine.
