Thinking of buying 2013 rx350 from dealer?
Been looking at some certified 2013 Lexus RXs with about 35k miles on them( mid to low $30k)
Anything I should know or be aware of with this car. Thought I read something that the Japan car might be better than the one built in canada.
Not sure this accurate, but I was talking with nieghbor about his maintenance on a 05 rx, and he said the maintenance to do the front of the engine around 90K is close to $5k for the timing belt, water pump, etc. I THOUGHT THIS WAS QUITE high, but why get into an argument with your neighbor. What else would be needed at this mileage?
My other options are buying a brand new Honda, Toyota, Sub SUV's or even gti, but the lexus quality is so much better, thinking buying a used lexus will give many more years of reliable service.
TKs for any help/info (ps any features i should look for on a used one?)

Every 10,000 miles ask for an oil change and tire rotation at the Lexus dealership if so inclined. This should be less than $100. Every 30,000 miles the brake fluid needs to be changed and again about $100. Every 20,000 miles change the air and cabin filters. This combined takes five minutes and the air filter can be bought on line at Lexus Parts World for $18. The cabin air filter can be bought at Walmart for $18, It is the Fram Fresh Breeze #10285 with carbon and baking soda to filter the air. Wiper blade inserts again can be bought at Lexus Parts World for $20 for both refills and takes five minutes to replace. You are done until 100,000 miles. At Lexus Parts World use cl5 in the promo code for 10% discount. If you go in and ask for the 10,000, 20,000 30,000 maintenance you will be paying big bucks for a lot more items you do not need checked and inspected. Once a year replace the key fob battery cr2032. Keep receipts for everything. I take my oil filter bought at Lexus Parts World and 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 purchased at Walmart for $24 to my local Toyota dealer and they charge me $15 labor. At 100,000 you need to change the coolant and at 120,000 the spark plugs. There is no timing belt. If you go to lexus.com and in the upper right hand corner click menu. Go down to owners and you will need to register. It is free. Then add you vehicle with the VIN number and it will tell you all that has been done with the vehicle. It is much more detailed than carfax.

Directly from the 2013 RX350 owner manual
"Timing Chain - The RX 350 is equipped with a timing chain that requires no periodic inspection"
On the other hand my SC430 had timing belt and it was a 90,000 mile replacement interval. Cost for Timing Belt, Water Pump, Idler pulley and labor runs between $700-$1,000 depending on dealer. Toyota shops have been known to have better prices than Lexus dealers in some areas.
Local dealer has specials most times. Looking at their web site today it has a special

"Replace Timing Belt
If your Lexus was built before 2006 and has not had a timing belt replacement, it's time! $399.95 for a V-6 engine $499.95 for a V-8 engine Can be combined with Monday Specials"

I think what your neighbor left out is that, prior to taking the car in for some work, he blew the engine and it cost him $5K.
Hard to tell where people get the stories they tell...

I don't know anyone who has spent more than $1500 for a timing belt job on any car (non-exotic). Your neighbor probably left out a bunch of details.
Our engines do not use rubber belts, just chains so nothing to worry about. About the only 'major' thing that you will need to change is the water pump. However, it's unlikely you will need to at 35k miles.
