First year for smart key and timing belt vs chain
Hello -
I currently have a 2009 RX350 and love everything about it except the fact that I have to get the key/fob out of my purse/pocket to unlock the car. I'd like to trade this car in for either another RX350, a RX400h or RX450h. I've been searching online (not sure I'm using correct terminology), but haven't found anything. Can anyone tell me which of the above models have a smart key where you can leave the fob in your pocket and push a button on the car to unlock and which year this became available? Also, which model/years have a timing chain vs timing belt.
Thanks for the help,

No, I don't play soccer!
Welcome to CL, lorigar. Smart key access began with the third gen RX350 and 450h. The 400h is second gen. So you're looking at 2010+ model year. Timing chain had been standard since I believe the 2007 RX. Earlier model years had a timing belt.
