What happens to headlights if you shut off car AFTER you open door ?

I wonder if you lock the car with the remote or if you have keyless entry, just tap on the door handle to lock........this will effectively turn all lights off no matter what. If one if the doors or the hatch is still open and not fully closed , then you will hear a long beep and the the doors will not lock until you close all doors properly.
Anyone have ANY ideas on how my wife could have left lights on ? ANYONE ?

The only question I have is whether or not your neighbor is talking about having seen your headlights or your interior lights being on ("the lights were on" could have been either interior or headlights). The interior lights might be left on if a door was not completely closed. As for the headlights being left on... that's where the music starts again.
