Cruising Range increased from 245 miles to 362 miles?
I bought my 2014 RX 350 a couple of years ago. For as long as I can remember, the cruising range has always been 245 miles on a full tank of gas.
Yesterday, I picked up my car after having it serviced. They replaced the 2G remote engine starter with a 3G one.
After I picked it up, I filled up the tank and now it says 362 miles cruising range.
Does anyone have any idea what would cause this significant increase?

I'm going to guess they disconnected the battery while working on your vehicle. This in turn wiped out previous fuel consumption history. Therefore, the computer is going by optimistic factory defaults to estimate fuel range.
They could have also performed a flash on the ECU to get 3G unit working, which reset historical data to defaults.

What kind of mileage is your display showing? The RX has a 19.2 gallon fuel tank. With about 2 gallons of reserve, that means you'd have to be getting somewhere around 14 mpg to have a 245 mile range (245/17). 362 would be about 21 mpg. When we had our RX, it would typically show a range of around 345 miles when full.

I'd have to double check that.
Does this mean it will recalculate once I start driving it again?
I'd LOVE to get 362 miles per tank, but maybe it's a lot lower because 95% of my driving is city as opposed to highway.

The 'Cruising Range' feature is not very accurate.
I track the mpg on all my vehicles.
I fill up, reset the trip meter to zero, drive until I need more gas, fill up, divide the miles driven on the trip meter by Gals purchased --- repeat.
After I do this a few times I have a reasonable mpg average estimate. I multiply that average by 19.2, thats my RX cruising range.
The gas gauge on my Wrangler stopped working six years ago, I've never run out of gas using the above method.

G- Are you sure you're remembering that number correctly? My RX always shows expected travel range of 3xx miles. Even my gas guzzling V8 GX470 has a range of 3xx miles. 245 miles just seem very low for a 19 gal tank.

My friend has 2014 RX and drives like an a**hole (floor it non-stop) his gas range shows 225 full tank, however i drive more or less normal and my tank is at 245 full range constantly. Unless i were to go to PA or upstate or like a long trip that is highway 90% of time, you don't have Stop signs / relights every block like we do here in NYC, then my range jumps to 300++ after first refueling easily.
