So i was on my way back from NOLA and was struck by a rock that screwed up my windshield. Any recommendations on where to go or what to buy? i have been told that if i want an OEM product, i will be paying out the A*#? I am also noticing that the more gadgets connected to the windshield (heater, odometer, rain sensor, etc), this plays a factor in driving up the price.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had my gs350 windshield replaced with oem and insurance denied me for requesting oem, but the shop that I went say it will deduct the amount on the aftermarket windshield and just pay the rest of the amount for the oem windshield + the deductible, which total up to $700 that's including my deductible for my windshield. the receipt listed the oem windshield cost 1k + 150 labor - $500 aftermarket windshield so total 600 and my $100 deductible

According to the 2014 Lexus Technology Summary, the 2014 RX has a standard noise reducing acoustic windshield. Check the lower driver side corner of your windshield to see if the word "ACOUSTIC" is imprinted there.
A replacement windshield must have the same properties as the original windshield, If your insurer asks you to accept an aftermarket windshield, verify that it is acoustic. If it is not acoustic, do not accept it.
When the acoustic windshield on our 2014 Sienna Limited was cracked by a rock in 2015, my insurer wanted me to accept an aftermarket windshield. When it was determined that none of the aftermarket windshields were acoustic, my insurer paid for an OEM replacement acoustic windshield without argument - about $1,800.
Our out-of-pocket cost was zero since we carry a zero deductible on Comprehensive coverage. Just this one incident more than paid for the slightly higher premiums we've paid over the past 30+ years to have a zero deductible on Comprehensive and that doesn't include the savings from not paying anything for other windshield replacements, repairs from hitting deer and the replacement of about ten stolen Mercedes hood ornaments.

Behind the scenes the story is each Insurance company has to adhere to State Laws. Then they have their own 'policies' for the grey area [where the law is not explicitly clear]. You can expect the insurance company to pay the least.
One can find out by talking to the insurance company and the repair shop where the vehicle is insured.
Bottom line ,, one answer does not apply everywhere/

A couple more items to consider.
If your vehicle is leased, look over your lease agreement and see if OEM replacement glass is required. You may be paying a surprise penalty if you use aftermarket glass when the time comes to turn in the vehicle.

Prior Military with USAA insurance. Just had the windshield replaced on my 2013 RX450 with auto rain sensing, HUD and heat. They replace with an after market with all the same feature. Zero out of pocket and was done the next day. Been about a month. No problems
