Default After Market HID's in Halogen Projectors vs HID projectors?

Hi,

I have an RX 350 2012.

I installed after market HID's as my used car came with Halogen. (not sure why they do that)

I've replaced it with 55w 6000k HID Bulbs. Also changed the front parking lights to LED so it would match the color.

My question is, does the Halogen Housing Projectors use a different lense than the HID Projectors?

Would I get a better result if I installed a used HID projector housing vs running HID bulbs through the Halogen projectors?

The optics for halogen and HIDs are different so if you put an aftermarket HID kit into your OEM halogen headlights, you're going to get glare. Your beam pattern is no longer optimal and can possibly blind other drivers.

If you want to do it right, you would have to get projectors made for HID. They're not as easy to retrofit for the average joe. Your best bet is to locate OEM HID headlights for the RX.

Gtseg is correct. OEM HID's are going to give you a considerably better beam than aftermarket HID bulb replacements.

Try Car-parts.com for used OEM replacements from salvage yards.

Thanks, I'm gonna try to find some OEM HID. For now, I'm going to use these. They're far better the halogen alternative.

Watch out for cops. Here in Oregon at least people have gotten tickets for improper headlights. You will also be pissing off many of your fellow drivers you share the road with.

Hi,

I parked two lexuses next to each other. Mine plus another one with HIDs. None of us could see any difference.

We put them up towards a wall, and the cut-off is slightly better with stock HIDs. But, you would not be able to tell unless you compare exactly like that.

The Halogen projectors cut-off the HID bulb pretty nicely and does not blind any oncoming drivers.

Were both on almost horizontal surface? It would be fun to compare on an incline.

How far was your vehicle away from the wall?

I would get LED fanLESS bulbs instead of HIDs to replace the halogen bulbs. The newer LEDs are much better now than ever.

i did LED bulbs for my CT200h low beams and it turned out well. My RX450h and LX570 came with OEM HIDs. My RCF came with OEM TRIPLE BEAM LEDS.

What I did with my CT200h was after installing the LEDs, I had my wife drive the car and I drove our other car at night towards each other on a two lanes country road to test for blinding lights. All were good.
