New type of Liftgate/valet mode problem
I've searched quite a bit but haven't found anyone else with this problem...
Took the wife's 2010 RX350 into to dealership because the power liftgate just beeped back at us (long beep) plus the struts were clearly wearing out. They said just replace struts. I went cheap route on Amazon and result was a set of struts clearly too resistant for the motor to work. Okay, fine. I paid the ~$300 for OEM Lexus struts and they are clearly the appropriate level of resistance. Now the problem.... liftgate STILL just beeeeeeeeeeps back at me! I checked the glove box, not in valet mode. BUT...I enabled valet mode, tried it, got the beep, disabled valet mode, WORKS! Hours later, same issue.
So, to get the power liftgate to work, I have to enable valet mode and try it, then disable valet mode again to get it to work. Has anyone found this out with theirs or know how to just disable the valet button in the glove box altogether? I haven't contacted any dealer or indie Lexus shop about this yet. Any advice is helpful!

Update: Now it isn't working at all. It attempts to lift, detaches just slightly and then beeps and pulls the hatch back in. After that try, it just beeps and doesn't even try. This is so frustrating.

Have you tried opening the hatch manually from the rear of the vehicle?
The hatch should be pretty much balanced, where minimal effort is required to lift it open. Once that is confirmed then investigate the motor part, but if you have to apply force to open then check the struts or the hinges.. The motor is barely strong enough to lift the balanced weight of the hatch.

On many hatches and sliding van doors and even windows has a feature to prevent a hand or head being pinched when it is remotely being closed. These hatches may have a safety feature and might be malfunctionimg tricking the hatch that someting is in the way of opening. Try checking these sensors.
