Advice for roof rails and bag
Hello, I hope you will understand my terminology in English.
I have Lexus RX450h 2010 European version, and as I am musician I need to carry sometimes a keyboard on the roof.
I have no rails on my car, so I guess I can buy it (it is damn expensive) from Lexus
Or I can buy just a bag and install it without rails.
1. Is it better for my car when I buy roof rails and then install a bag mounts on it?
2. Is it OK to just buy Thule mounts (mount it to my car roof) and not to the Car Rails that I do not have? (it is cheaper)
3. How many kg I can put on my car in both situations. Does it depend on the thing if I mount it on roof rails or on the roof?
Please someone correct my English terminology if I write it wrongly
thank you

Just buy the Thule mounts for the model that does not have factory roof rails. Then you can remove everything when not in use.
Go with Thule recommendations regarding weight. Most roof racks are limited to about 100 pounds.
I trust you have access to the Thule fit guide like this one on a US seller site https://www.thule.com/en-us/us/buyer...de&q=QUVoRjGRw

Rails are the long bars that run front to back on each side on the roof.
Slats are the cross bars that are used to lift the object you want to carry above the roof. They transfer the weight to the rails.
Rails in USA are typically part of the AWD package.
When I searched the kit was not available and individual items were very expensive.
I bought roof rails from salvage yard. I paid a pretty penny for the tie down bolts. In retrospect, I could have used red loctite.

Thank you , this is interesting!
Do not we have different names in Europe?
Please have a look
https://www.thule.com/pl-pl/pl/roof-...ks?q=L5esDVRRw
Is it the same?
And I have a problem because this ThuleWingbarEdge (there is a manual there) seems to be only for roof rails?

Thule is providing the slats. Note the slat ends have to match the the rail to grab on to it. The web page shows low profile rails which got introduced in 4th gen RX.
SO do you have the rails on your vehicle?

Roof rails were standard in 2010 and the capacity was 165lbs. I am guessing that Andrew is looking for the slats that go across from the rails.
