Default 2013 RX 450h - Good Deal????

I just bought my first car from the dealership, the Lexus 2013 rx 450h with 55k miles and a 3 year /36,000 mi extended warranty. The car was originally priced at 25k, but I was able to talk the car salesman down to 23k. After taxes, tags, license, etc the total price came to $29k. Do you think this a good deal or should I consider taking it back? Thanks in advance.

I bought CPO 2013 RX 450h with 34k miles around 15 monthes ago for $32k with taxes almost $40k. I think it's a good deal if car in a good condition.

Does the extended warranty a "real" warranty? I have come across some warranties where the conditions are onerous, e.g. you need to service the vehicle at the dealership you bought the vehicle from, and the fine details don't really give you any real cover. One particular warranty that I recently read does not even cover oil leaks. If you google timing chain cover oil leak for the Lexus RX, you'd be surprised by how expensive the fix is (circa USD$3000, as the engine has to come out)

Depends on what type of extended warranty. "INCLUSION" VERSUS "EXCLUSION" in the language of the contract.

As I recalled from my MB Extended Warranty (need it in the MB, .NOT MUCH SO IN THE LEXUS)......EXCLUSION EXTENDED WARRANTY is better bc it will simply list what's NOT COVERED. Easy to understand.

Generally, if the extended warranty is sold by Lexus (with the Lexus name on the actual contract), then it is GENERALLY good, but will cost you unless you really shop around.

It is illegal for ANYONE to require that you take any car in the USA to a particular brand of car dealership or repair shop FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE in order to maintain the warranty as long as you can document that you (or a shop) did the routine maintenance as outlined in the owner's manual on time.

You really should be doing all your research before making the purchase, not after. We're certainly willing to provide feedback if you think you need it but you really need to shop around and look at comparable recent sales just as you would with any other purchase.

Did you get the vehicle inspected? There's much more to consider than just the model year, miles, price and extended warranty.

Who is the extended warranty from? What does it cover? What does it exclude? Don't just assume that all are the same.

i have only owned mine for about a day, so I am not really very qualified. but the warranty and taxes are awfully high.

KBB fair purchase price is close to 27k, and your trade in value is close to 22k. thats a really good deal. any accidents on the carfax change those numbers of course, but if its clean thats a steal. but 6k for fees is crazy. taxes tags and title should be around 2k max, so paying 4k for extended coverage is nuts. whatever breaks in the next 3 years is surely going to cost less than that. the point of buying from lexus/toyota is reliability. and you bought your car with fairly low miles.

if money is all a concern of yours i would return the warranty. everything i have read says that warranties are not worth the money. this is just my personal opinion, so please take it with a grain of salt.

Put the same amount of money the extended warranty would cost into a CD or money market fund. At least you get a little interest and your money back to pay for any possible repairs. At the end you still have your money less any repairs.
It is all a gamble.
