2010 Lexus RX 450H wont start: 12v battery dead?
Hi,
A friend of mine has a 2010 Lexus RX 450h that they inherited and wanted me to check out for them since they are in another state.
The stepmom of my friend, who has the car in her possession, told me the car all the sudden won't start but had successfully turned on the last time she tried on around January 9th, plus or minus a few days.
I went over to take a look at the car today and sure enough, it doesn't start. No power to anything, no lights.
I call AAA, they jumpstart it from the trunk battery. Car starts up. AAA guy says I may have to take it to the dealer to have them charge it up, and that simply driving the car for 30+ minutes might not do the trick.
I drive the car for 35 minutes or so around the neighborhood with no issues at all. Once I return back to the house, I shut off the car and attempt to restart. The car won't start. It does have some power as the dash is illuminated but then begins to flicker at times and lights fade in and out.
Is this simply a 12v battery issue? Do I need to take to dealer as AAA guy recommended? Is there a chance anything is wrong with the hybrid battery? If it needs a new 12v, is there a recommended replacement amongst the RX community?
Thank you for your time!

Sounds like the 12 volt battery which is located under the rear cargo bay tray, left of the spare wheel, is not holding charge. Being a 2010, if it's never been replaced before, its probably long overdue for a replacement.
See this extensive thread re the 12 volt battery:
