Metal/plastic oil filter canister.......
Do you do your own oil changes? Probably nothing to worry about.
Do you take your car to one of those oil change places? Lots to worry about, and this maybe a good thing to have a plastic canister now, because when that untrained idiot over tightens the plastic canister, he may crack it or strip it, but your engine block will be fine.
Over tightening an aluminum canister may cause damage to your engine, and may not be discovered a few oil changes later as it gets progressively worse.

I think this was a general question, but in my case, yes I do change the oil. I also have a 2012 RAV4 V6, and they both take the same filter which is nice. The RAV has 90K, and I generally changed the oil at 3K (I think the owner's manual said 5K, but I could be wrong). It has the metal oil cap. So yeah, I changed the oil more than it needed. But it's runs as smooth and strong as the day I picked it up. I stopped using the plug in the cap to drain the oil. At this point it's hard to get off without spinning the whole caniste, and I usually made a mess with it.
When I can't do it myself (which is rare) I have a shop in walking distance that I have used for years. I know the guys/owner, and trust them to do the right thing. Since I drive less these days I'm going to the 6 month oil change rather than 5K.
There is a auto shop owner youtuber who posts Lexus & Toyota videos, and he absolutely swears by the 5K or 6 month oil change. He also says NOT to change the plastic cap. I'm not affiliated with this site in any way, nor am I saying to believe everything on the net. But if interested he has a few engine teardown vids of Toyota engines where the oil was changed every 10K. youtube.com/@TheCarCareNut
