Default Rusted door handles and extended warranty coverage

Hello,
I am looking for some assistance. While looking at my RX this weekend I can see the return of rust seeping for the door handles of all of my door and the handle of the hatchback.
I had this issue before shortly after purchasing my CPO 2011 RX and under warranty this issue was resolved but it has returned.
I know my initial warranty has expired but I purchased extended warranty that is set to expire in May 2019 or 160 000 kms- the odometer is currently at 108000km.
I called the dealership where I purchased my RX and they did the first warranty repair in 2015 asking about the rust re-appearing in all of the door handles and the hatch back handles I was informed that this issue would not be covered under the extended warranty that I purchased. As can be imagined I was surprised by this information and because of this I am seeking some direction on how to proceed.
Thank you

Please look up the extended warranty .. specially the fine print .. regarding what is covered and what is not covered. Personally I would not be surprised if body parts are not covered.

You should be able to get the information as to 'what needs to be done' from dealership. Then post here for possible solutions.

The other thing is why is the problem coming back? If the previous repair was not adequate, you may be able to convince your dealership to take car of it. Keep in mind there is a difference between 'contract' and 'gratis work'

Thank you for your response. It’s the hardware for the handles/ door mechanism that is inside of the door not the actual handles. Yes I am of th le same opinion if it was fixed in 2015 with replacement hardware why has the problem come back.
Once I have more information I will post it

How are seeing this rust? Are you removing the door cards? If the repair in 2015 looked good parts wise, that tells me there’s a problem with the water block.

The rust is seeping from the gap between the door and handles on the front doors and the hatchback

Please post a picture.

Rust does not usually seep (flow out).

It's not that the rusting area flows, but it does stain the paint below. I have the same issue on mine, right below the camera and on one of my door handles. Every couple of months I use a cleaner for a minute to remove the staining. Been one of those to-do items that has never made it to the top of my list.

Right now it’s winter so washing isn’t a great choice at the moment

Not unless you're in Texas like Salim is, must be nice having those warm temperatures during the winter.

I get the rust too, not so much from the handle but near the camera around the rear license plate. I just wipe it with a cloth after the winter. It's not a warranty item according to Lexus and does not cause any issues aside from cosmetic.

That's the story I got from the dealer. Said they would charge me to dismantle the area for inspection and then make a determination if it was covered on the rust warranty. I suspected not, it's probably just an unprotected metal screw or similar. For the 5 minutes I spend annually giving it a little extra effort during a clean, it wasn't worth the hassle.

I think this is something that a weekly wipe with a microfiber cloth could clean up. It is apparent in your climate that all door handles from Lexus will start to rust. If you have to pay for them, I would just invest in a bag of microfiber towels and maybe some Mequiars spray quick detailer to apply after a wash as it will reduce the amount that sticks to the paint.

I am not surprised at the rust, if you look under our vehicles the chassis/frame has loads of surface rust from metal that is barely treated at the factory.

Had the same issue with mine. The interior steel door & latch components are creating the rust & it's seeping through the gaskets. Cosmetic only on the paint, I'm not worrying about the interior hardware. Cleans up easily with a putty stick just like the rust stains on a road wheel from the metallic brake dust.
