Default How to replace the factory radio?

Hi! I wan to remove factory radio and install the new android car stereo. How to do it? Is it difficult to install this? How about the Seicane Android Car Stereo?

Study the current head unit you have and see what else does it control.

If you have a nav unit there are features hidden in the menu.

The next issue you will run into the physical fitment. Car Audio uses standard sizes like DIN or Double DIN which may or most likely will not fit in the size of your RX.

Then there are signal levels and controls that run between units. I know for a fact that the first gen uses non-standard signal levels as well as uses double differential audio [l+/l-, r+/r- while the standard use l, r].

Maybe I will learn few things in the ensuing discussion. You can use aux-in and inject audio of your liking and all the manipulation of audio signal before you inject it.

The problem you'll face is the factory system is more than just a radio, and is more of an integrated interface for the car as a whole.

It controls the HVAC, and acts as the interface to control various other settings. You'll have to find something that is tailored for the specific year and model of your RX.

I did take a quick look at the Seicane site you linked to. It looks like they are addressing this, but, everything they have is for older models and I didn't find a Lexus section. You didn't mention what year your RX is, but for my '13 it would be a major project to get something to work as a replacement since they just keep adding more things for the infotainment system to manage.

Grom Audio is a ClubLexus vendor, and I am not affiliated with them (although I do want one...)
