Hmm.... I would ask why not the Lcertified warranty....I think it is a better warranty than Platinum extended.
So 2 plus 3 is 5 years.... unlimited mileage?

Platinum extended usually has a cap on mileage.......

Make sure u look carefully at the paint too

Thanks. It is L certified warranty for 2 years. As I understand it it is standard with CPO. Is there any option for extending L certification? I thought the extension is labeled as platinum (I could be very wrong).

Will check paint for sure, thx. Will also read contract carefully.

L certified warranty is 2 years unlimited mileage on your L-certified car and like u said it is standard
You can purchase a warranty beyond that also with unlimited miles. Just need to clarify with them if it is 3 more years of unlimited beyond the 2 for the 1500 or 2 plus 1 more year for 1500

So after scheduling a prepurchase independent inspection but before heading to the dealership, the salesman changed his offer. $28k L/certified, meaning 2 year warranty. $26,500 for no warranty. The thing is it's already been inspected, they just wouldn't attach the warranty to it.

Assuming independent inspector finds nothing wrong, isn't it a pretty good deal? Brand new tires and brake pads.

Maybe I can get it for $27k or $27,500, but not sure.

Also, the salesman provided only the state inspection, but not any Lexus inspection paperwork. I assume I can get that paperwork to see what they did to the car, eg I would expect a brake fluid flush. Anything else that should have been done?

Get them to upgrade the map, add a tow hitch or some accessory that will be useful to you, 3M hood treatment.

IMHO, I'd would buy the car with the L-certified warranty, $1500 is not enough off for me to get the car without a warranty. Also you get the balance of the factory warranty left on the vehicle (4 yr/50000mi). Look at the date of first sale to determine the start of the warranty.

Consider starting at $27,000 and going up. If they don't like it, then $27,800 with a $500.00 service department credit if u plan to have all your maintenance performed there.

That car has been there for really a long time and I'm sure they would like to get rid of it.

Good luck!

If u go to lexus.com, look for the L-certified part of the website and click on the checklist each Lexus must go through in order to be L-certified. Then compare that with the Maryland checklist which u copied from above.

Thanks for your advice. Looks like it was sold in December 2014.
