2010 RX450H strange noise
Hi all,
My 2010 RX450H has this strange sound coming from the inside of the dask, under the odometer area. It started few weeks ago and started to appears at 81 Khm/h only. When the speed is over 81km/h, the sound is gone. The sound is ket ket ket like the little grinding.
I took it to a Toyota dealer near my home, they said that it is the Generator problem, but not said what part exactly nor what need to be replaced.
I am in need of your help, also to share the experience. Could anyone have experience with it or know what is it please?
This is the youtube link for the noise
Thank you very much,
Victor

Ahem, not having music on would have helped.
I heard:
1. LOUD boooooooooooo
2. ever so often there was a "grinding" noise, like a quick Dremel touch on metal.
So I am not sure what you referring to. But BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO is very loud...

Definitely not alternator. I KNOW alternator noise. Also, it's on the opposite engine side, on passenger side.
I say a plastic gear somewhere in one of those gauges skips and rubs.....

Hi,
Thank you very much for your input,
- The tech at dealer said the right font bearing need to be changed too, I guess it makes woooooooo sound?
- If you listen to the video, there is some time, mostly at the end of video, kind of ket ket ket like the metal touch sound, it is under the driver side., I hear it under the dash.
- The tech said it can be on the Generator GM1 or GM2 but he cannot say exactly which piece.
Hope to have more comments,
Best

Trying to listen to it noise with music in the background is not optimal. I think I hear like another poster said is grinding almost like a Dremel. Curious if you tried turning off your air conditioning fan to see if it still happens.

Ah, yeah, you have hybrid. 2010... 8 years x 12 000 = around 100 000 miles? Was ATF ever changed? Also, how is inverter fluid level or appearance? It cools down motor generators. Your vehicle does not have alternator. Or generator. Their function is done by motor generator. Power Split Device indeed is on the driver side, right in front of driver feet.
I'd definitely suggest to re record your presentation, without music or any other noises and, maybe, placing recording device closer to the noise source. Also, pointing out at what second in recording you hear noise will be more precise.
Bearing does make a noise. It can be a crunching noise, like bunch of beetles or whooo at high speeds.

Hi, the high frequency sound is very audible in the video, mostly at the end of the video.
The ATF (Automatic transmission fluid if I understand well) has not been changed
All the fluids are in good level.
Thank you for more input
