Recently I noticed a limb off a bush laying under my hood, on top of my battery. Upon closer evaluation I saw that there were lots of leaves, etc. under my hood and then after brushing all of this away I saw that one of the rubber straps that secures the battery had melted completely in two. I think this is a hazard and wonder if anyone else has had problems with leaves, etc. coming through front grill area of car and collecting under hood. I'm just glad I'm now aware of it so I can check more often to see if it needs to be cleaned out. This is on a 2008 Lexus RX 350.

Have owned our 2008 since new and have never had this problem.

I wonder if it didnt melt but rather was chewed in half by a rodent. My last car had a bunch of twigs/debree on top of the battery that a rat had brought up there.

Clean up the mess and set up a mouse trap.
