How often do you pop the hood to do a visual?
A new thread about leaves under the hood, prompted me to post this survey thread.
I do that once a week and would suggest more frequent if you lark your vehicle outdoors. Even the ones parked indoors should be looked at once a month.

I purchased my 2014 RX350 with about 50K miles on it a few month back. The car had every scheduled service performed at the dealership over the years. When I got the car, judging by the look of the engine, engine covers and stiffness of the cover clips, I'm pretty confident that those engine covers had never been removed. That tells you something about those 161 point inspections they say they perform... 50,000 miles, and not once did someone look at the engine.
