Full left or right clank noise at end of turn
I have a 2011 RX 350. When you turn full either way (while parking for example) it does not stop smoothly, you feel the steering wheel clank, it kind of bounces. I am no mechanic but I suspected bushings. I have them replaced and also the shocks, but the issue persists. I took it to the Lexus dealer and they say it is in prefect working condition, that the RX has power assisted motor in the shaft, not the traditional power steering and that is the usual behavior which I took as a lame diagnostic. Any ideas? Can this be a power steering rack problem or is it really the way this works?

I love the DIY spirit, but when folks try to diagnose and get into repairs they may spend unnecessarily and at times end up with sub-par replacement part. I suggest pay some one to diagnose or when you take the vehicle in for repairs, let the place diagnose and do the repair ... in this case if the problem is not solved then the place made wrong diagnosis, for which the customer should not be required to pay.
Back to problem at hand ... Go to a suspension shop and let them show the play (if there is any .. which would indicate a worn bushing/tie-rod-ends). There is a bump stop which limits the max turning and that should be felt on extreme turn of steering. If no one has touched the steering system, factory sets that perfectly. [equal steering turn max-right to max-left and the middle in the straight center of steering].

How long have you had this car? I suspect the Lexus dealer is right. Starting around 2010, Toyota's and Lexi started making uncouth noises when you hit the end of steering travel. First noticed it in a rental 2012 Sienna but then subsequently heard it in my 2010 RX and dad's 2012 Camry...
