How reliable are the electronics in the 2013 RX350?
#2
Although electronics are certainly a concern, there are of course many other things that can go wrong. People often say "dont get a warranty for a reliable brand/ model", but the reliability of the vehicle is taken into account when determining the cost of the warranty. So, it is generally much cheaper to warranty a car that is considered to be reliable. I think the decision to get a warranty depends a lot on the person. How much time have you spent going over and driving the car and how much confidence do you have in your analysis of its condition? Have you had the car checked out by a private mechanic? Would an unexpected repair cause you significant financial hardship? If so, how badly are u dependant on that vehicle? Does the car have any of the original warranty left? How particular are u about your cars?
You of course need to consider the extended warranty terms and weigh the cost. Is there a deductible? What is covered? Where can u take the car?
To finally answer your question, I dont know of any known electical problems in the 3rd gen RX350.
Personally, I was glad I got an extended warranty on my 2014 RX350. l've had about 6 different rattles and currently have a squeaking and clicking steering wheel that I'll be bringing it back in for. Again, other people might not have even cared about those things. I just like to get my used vehicles running perfectly, and keep them that way, so I find that an extended warranty makes sense for me. I think it was $1500 for 5 years of warranty and I can take it to any Lexus dealership.
Some members have even mentioned that you can apparently get an extended warranty from a second party, so it might be wise to shop around for it.
