I’ve searched articles on rear seat removal and all seem to leave out how to disconnect the cable from the rear hatch area that pushes the seat back rest down?
can someone explain how to release this cable to get the seat out?

If you dont get an answer or do not have access to the service manual, you can look at the parts diagram from on line dealerships to visualize the assembly.

Your Lexus dealership parts may be able to fax you the diagram.
I am suggesting go to site such as Lexus of South Atlanta, parts and drill down to your vehicle.

Ozblitz, did you find an answer? I'm trying to remove my rear seats and have ran into this issue. I can't disconnect the rear hatch cable release. I see the connection under/behind the seat frame but can't get to it very well to see how they disconnect. It's some kind of housing where the cable goes into. I've looked at schematics but they're not very helpful in seeing how they connect.

You need to separate the black plastic cover with a small flat blade screwdriver where the cable goes into. Pop off the top cover and you will see 2 cables, 1 that goes forward into the seat, and 2 the cable from the release handle. With a needle nose pliers pull the cable that is attached to the handle upward, and out of the housing. You may also find that the black plastic housing is attached to a small metal bracket on the seat. To get that off you need 2 small picks to pop up the tabs in the center of the housing before you can access the cables more easily. Don't forget to disconnect the airbag connector gently, before you pull out the seat.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.

Use this link I found using google.
https://www.lexus-tech.eu/HYBRID/HVD...%20RX450hL.pdf
It is a lexus instruction manual on how to remove the hybrid battery (located below the rear seats).
Page 57 shows how to separate the remote seat back release cable from the seat.

I've removed my rear seat of my 13RX350 to clean the enormous amount of garbage the prior owner left under the seat (they had a toddler).
I'd recommend disconnecting the battery first, before starting. This is to prevent the airbag from firing when you disconnect or reconnect it.
Removing the rear seat is a bit of a pain, and if you can get someone to help with the lifting of the seats out, I recommend it. As EdRock589 posted above, you must disconnect the cables that go to the handles in the trunk area, and the plastic cover houses the pull cables and wiring harness for the airbags. There are 2, one on each side. I will also add that I unbolted the seat assemblies (there are 2 seat assemblies in the 2010-2015 RX) and shifted them forwards slighty, so I could get at the pull cable/wire harness connectors. I did one side at a time. Putting them back together is harder than taking them apart. Be gentle with the black pastic cover as it will break easily. Take your time and really study it before popping it apart, so you don't break it.
