Tail light burnt out

Reviving this old thread, first time on the forum.
My 2010 RX350 had passenger side brake light fail. I tried to pull out the socket assembly to change the bulb (which was a halogen 168), and mistakenly pulled the white wires. Could not repair myself.
My independent shop says it's an LED assembly (but the bulb was a halogen??), and they want me to pay for an entire new Lexus assembly for $400.
This smells funny.
Anyone else had experience after you screw up and pull out the wires from the socket assembly by mistake?

The tail lights are halogen and are easily replaced via replacement bulb. The brake lights are LED - if these are not working due to age or damage the only real option you have is to replace the entire assembly.
