I agree. I had all 4 replaced at Costco on my Lexus HS250h for less than $250. You do need an appointment. However the price is good enough that it is worth joining just for to get the TPMS sensors replaced. Make sure they program them before you leave, my local Costco idiots thought that they would self program after driving 10 minutes. I returned and they programmed them with their hand held device in just a few minutes.

Do NOT go to a Lexus dealership for TPMS replacement -- the dealerships are ridiculously expensive (i.e. ripping you off big-time). Call around to your local tire shops (such as Discount Tire). You will find much more reasonable TPMS deals there. That may also be the case at Costco if you happen to be a member.
I purchased a set of four aftermarket(i believe) replacement Toyota TPMS sensors on Ebay for $40. They look like OEM sensors that had the batteries replaced and then were resealed. They work just fine on my 2015 Lexus RX350 so far without any issues.

I may just replace the cheap tire sensors every time I purchase new tires which is about every 4-5 years or so; since I do not know the battery life expectancy on them. At that rate it will be many years before I reach the cost of buying new OEM tire sensors for about $70 each.

I purchased the tire sensors here and gave them to the tire store to install on my new set of tires and wheels. The tire store was able to program them with my new set of tires.

^^ Just be sure to check with your selected tire store to see if they can indeed program the specific TPMS sensors you decide to buy yourself. Some have the hardware/software to do so and some do not.

Correct!

I used my local Discount Tire store who had the proper tools and those cheaper sensors worked out for me. Toyota/Lexus has a very basic TMPS system in most models made before 2016 it seems; so the cheap Toyota branded TMPS sensors will mostly likely work on nearly all the models that do not display wheel air pressure data including a 2015 RX350.

I bought 4 aftermarket ones from ebay and a Autel 501 programmer to do it myself when I changed tires to replace the sensor is not much extra work.

^^ What was your total cost for the four new aftermarket sensors and the Autel device?

Default 2010 RX TPMS issue

Hi all,

The TPMS light in my 2010 RX comes on after I've been driving roughly 20 minutes (also roughly 20 miles - this is highway driving, not stop and go traffic). It flashes for a bit then stays solid/illuminated. I checked my tires and noticed they were a little low, so I filled them back up to spec. But the light is still coming on after I've been driving about 20 minutes, and it always does the same thing - blinks then stays solid. It never comes on when I start the car or do short drives around town. I'm at a loss. What gives? Thanks!

If you still have your factory TPMS sensors, they are actually overdue for their internal batteries to die. My guess is that one or more of them is gradually failing.

Your spare most likely has a sensor also but sounds like one or more are on their way out.

As others have commented, your TPM sensor(s) internal battery(s) is at the end of their life. They generally last around 7 years or so.

Owning a 2010 RX350 as well, I recently had my TPS light go one, checked my tire pressure (all were fine) and determined it was a TPMS going bad. I had all four replaced at Costco for about $260 out the door. I read somewhere in this forum that Discount Tires also replaces TPMS at a similarly good price.
The spare on the 2010 RX does not have a TPMS nor does the system support programming a 5th TPMS.

FYI: I have my original TPMS sensors on a 2010 RX-350 and they still work just fine.
I do plan to have them replaced at COSTCO, too, next time I get new tires.
I use COSTCO because they put dry nitrogen in my tires and they never get soft when the weather changes.

The cost have gone way down, too.

I got more than 15 years from my 07 GS450h.

About 10 years from one from my 13 ES300h, the other 3 are good.

I bought generic online and used a Autel 408 programmer to reset ecu to accept them.

What brand and model sensor did you use in the 13’? Does it show air pressure on the dash?

"Showing pressure in the dash" wouldn't that be the capability of the RX (yr/model) instead of the pressure sensor in the wheel?

the post I was replying to was - 2013 ES300H. Not sure I understand your question but most sensors arej capable of showing actual pressures. For whatever reason not all vehicle ecus are set up to show them.
