I recently came back to the Great White North to find my 2012 Lexus RX350 had a dead battery. I replaced the battery and the engine started up fine, but .... there was a warning on the dash "Check Power Steering System' and i could not move the steering wheel. Does anyone know what this problem might be?

You need a professional to diagnose this as we have electronic power steering. But you could check the fuses yourself. Your owners manual will help you find them
