Default New Lexus Owner

Hi All,
People seem quite helpful here. I am a new owner and i wanted to know where is the best place to buy parts (oil filter / cabin filter / plugs) etc for a lexus. i have seen rock auto but i am located in ontario so i figured there may be a better place to go. (no hard in asking)

Also, what kind of mats does everyone advise? Should i order weathertech?

Thanks in advance to all and look forward to helping out as well

P

Amazon and Ebay have proven to have the best deals for me when chasing routine maintenance parts. I often find the best deal simply by typing the part number I am looking for into Google and then checking the results. Did exactly that for my oil filters, air filters, and Motivx 64mm oil filter wrench cap needed to pull the oil filter on these RX350 vehicles. Ordered 15 quarts of Castrol Edge 0W-20 motor oil from Walmart.com when it was on sale with free shipping back during the Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales in late November. Keep a list handy of good deals that you find and refer to it whenever you need something else. As you continue to find good sources, add them to your list.

Thank you so much for the help. I will definately do that. The problem is that amazon canada and walmart canada is a bit different then the states in terms of pricing and availability.
Also is there a website where you can search for parts numbers so you are able to search the parts numbers online? (i googled a few but i was wondering if anyone has a preference from one over another?

Thanks

Also listed above in the menu is the "Marketplace" with a vendor directory. I often use that to find sites such as MyLParts.com and a few others. They usually list a discount code for forum members, so don't forget to look for one and enter it when placing an order!

For oil and filter just go to your local Walmart. Mine has excellent K&N oil filters for a great price. Any of the synthetic 0w20 oils are fine these days. The cabin filter is the same one used in many Toyota/Lexus vehicles, again Walmart will have it, or any local auto parts store. Same with the engine air filter, I think it is also shared with some other Toyota/Lexus vehicles. You can always look on eBay, some folks there sell packages with both the cabin and engine air filters, but they are usually unbranded.

And I too recommend the Motivx oil filter wrench (64mm 14 flute oil filter wrench) from Amazon, their are a few, but this one is worth the extra money as it will not break.

Then buy a bunch of Toyota oil drain plug washers on eBay. There are many sellers of batches of 10 for a great price.

Hi Paul23,
Welcome to the group and congratulations on your Lexus!
By the replies suggesting WalMart, maybe the readers think you live in Ontario, California. I see you are in Ontario, Canada.
FWIW, I get my oil changes at the Toyota dealership and buy my cabin filters at an auto parts store. For other repairs, I search'
YouTube video tutorials, buy the parts @ Amazon and do the repairs as best I can. I saved $500 by installing my own door lock
actuator. The job is not for the inexperienced, but it was very rewarding to accomplish this challenge.
All the best. Hope it's not too cold this winter for you up there.

Try eBay? Or maybe autoanything.com OR maybe a local auto parts store? They may have a wrench that fits from a different manufacturer.

The two oil filter housing cap wrench attachments that get the most favorable reviews are the Motivx 64mm (part no. MX2320 at motivxtools.com) and the Assenmacher TOY 640. The Motivx cap sells for about $25 while the Assenmacher cap sells for about $17. I ordered my Motivx cap directly from their website. It is a sturdy tool. I would bet that the Assenmacher cap is as well. I would stick with these two and avoid the cheaper plastic caps from other questionable suppliers. Lots of reports of the various plastic caps cracking or breaking after just a couple of uses..

I am in Hamilton Ontario and I buy parts from RockAuto and ship it to usaddressinc (near the border in usa). For that trip I also order a bunch of stuff from Amazon.com so I can pick up those as well then we go to the mall there for shopping when we do this trip.
For mats, yes I use Weathertech.

I have the Motivx and had the Assenmacher before that for many years, but lost it and both are excellent at removing the Toyota/Lexus oil filter. They even fit the smaller traditional oil filter on my HS250h!
