Rodent damage to wiring harness - where to repair

I get a chuckle ever time someone tries to blame the biodegradable plastic for rodent damage I doubt anyone who claims this has ever tasted the stuff.
I've actually used it for 3d printing, including the soy based stuff that the Japanese imports use, and having bitten into the stuff since my filament cutter was out of reach or lost somewhere, I can tell you it is just as unappealing in taste as the hydrocarbon based stuff. It doesn't taste like soy sauce.
Comes down to rodents like to chew on wires for some reason, have done it in cars and boats for decades before the new insulation was out, and would still be doing it if it never existed.

i don’t t think any of the class action lawsuits out there regarding soy based wiring attracting rodents (squrrils included) have gotten anywhere, at least 2 big ones in California got dismissed. Nothing proven but at the same time, don’t know of any study even looking into it.

Its hard to prove that the Soy is bad for rodents, and harder to prove that rodent prefers soy based wiring over regular copper lol

Hello this just happened to by ES350 2012. I've been living the same place for years, and boom! 2 insurance claims in 2 months. Can you tell me more about the tape?

Here is what the rodents did to my RX450h recently about three weeks ago.
Lexus repaired the wires. Cost about $380 or so.

It is available on eBay and other internet sellers. Search "Honda rodent repellent tape" Part no. 4019-2317 It appears to have lots of hot pepper in it!
I saw on Amazon Loraffe ultrasonic animal repellents you can place under the hood, which may be useful in addition to tape as you cannot tape everything.
They also had some spray repellent for the car. These appear to be Peppermint based.
This happened to my next door neighbor's BMW, which was in the garage, but rarely driven, mice built a nest in his engine compartment and it cost a few hundred to repair wiring.

Address the root cause. Rodents are able to come into the garage and feast on whatever is available to chew on. Seal your garage and get some traps laid out.

A few days ago I started up my 2018 RX350, which was in garage after sitting for a few days, and saw multiple notices on my dash display: ICS malfunction, TRAC off, Check engine light etc. Car ran very rough and not above 40 mph. Dealer said that "Limp mode came on automatically as not to harm engine. Had car towed on flat bed to dealer 30 miles away. Lexus paid for tow as I called the Lexus 800 # for roadside service. Dealer found lots of rodent damage with multiple wires chewed. Repaired #4 Coil wire and Bank#2 cam sensor wires among others. Dealer took pictures which showed quite a messy nest. Cost to repair with tax was $686. I have Comp insurance with a $500 deductible but probably won't file a claim which could jack up rates.
A local auto service repair service I use for oil changes etc. suggested putting "Bounce" dryer strips in engine compartment. Which I will do. Also went to Home Depot and found a rodent repellent that is made up of small mesh bags which contain small granular beads that smell like MINT. The small bags have a string attached which makes it easy to tie to locations in the engine compartment. Tied a few of the bags in engine compartment and will also put in some "Bounce" strips.
Next job is to get rid of the mice.

If you have even a couple of rodents in your garage, over a couple of months they will chew through whatever is tasty to them, and that includes upholstery. I had a rodent problem in one of my garages.
In the silence of the garage, they could be heard rummaging and running about.
Simply, I laid out rodent poison dispensers in the corners of the garage.
A month later, I heard not a single scurry. Bye bye rodents. lol
