I had my contacts successfully loaded for years and they vanished. Now I can’t transfer my contacts and get this error message “contact transfer failed”

Delete the pairing relationship on phone and delete phone from the vehicle. Pair your phone again as if new. Immediately after the pair is successful, and trying to transfer contacts, keep an eye on your phone. Some phones will pop up an additional notice asking for permissions to be able to transfer. If you don't notice this permission request, the transfer will fail, and you might not get another permission request from the phone afterwards to try again. All depends on the phone and version of software how this actually plays out.
