Default Phone Quick Reply

I have a 2015 RX (love it) with navigation and a new iPhone 8 (also love that). I have paired my iPhone with my Lexus using bluetooth. I can make and receive calls using the bluetooth in the car and can also receive texts that show on the navigation screen and also can be played with the voice. I would like to be able to use the quick replay feature to reply to text messages but the "reply" button does not show up on the screen. Is there something I need to do to my iPhone to enable the quick reply function? Thanks!

Good luck! I have found the phone integration to be wholly useless in this regard. I now simply rely on my native phone features which sadly means I can't use the Lexus screen/buttons for that. And even the 2018 model doesn't support Apple CarPlay (2019 does, I believe). CarPlay handles everything very nicely. Very disappointing!

Just noticed last night that the reply button is now functional. I am using the factory navigation system and an Iphone 10 S Max.
When you hit the reply button there are several standard replies to choose from.. I did not change any settings on either the phone or navigation system.

It appears that you can use a pre-determined set of replies, but so far I have not been able to use my voice to create a reply. Also, you can now call the person who texted you if you desire. Both improvements, I believe, but not being able to create a custom reply keeps it from being fully useful, IMHO

The Quick Reply function works mainly with Androids. Apple may have updated their software for that to work now. HOWEVER, there's an even better way to reply to texts with an iPhone. 2014-2019 RX 350s have Siri Eyes Free. You push and hold the phone answer button until you see "Mobile Assistant" pop up on the screen. You are now using Siri thru the car. It's using your phone but just thru the car.

I remember hearing about that - mine is a 2013 RX 350, so that option isn't available to me, unfortunately.
