HUD stopped working
Good morning all. First timer, but searched before posting. I’m driving to TX from FL and stopped at a rest area. Didn’t shut the car off, and when I got back on the road I noticed the HUD was out. 2011 RX 350. I’ve tried all 3 of the HUD buttons to the right of the steering wheel, and absolutely nothing. Any other ideas on what I can check?

Your paper map slid across the dash and is covering the HUD projector window?
Same map or other obstruction is covering the Auto Lights sensor (Quarter sized domed disc)
and the dash lights and HUD are very dim and invisible in daylight?

I don't have the RX with the HUD and I wish I could help. What I know is that my RX without the HUD has a diagnostic tool hidden that's accessible through the Nav interface. Hold MENU, turn headlight rotator switch to 2nd position, move to 3rd, back to 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd second. The Nav screen may turn white and show you some options. I think one of those options is Function Check where you can verify the operation of various features. I don't think you can do much harm in that diagnostic menu.
There's a HUD in an X5 that I occasionally drive and I sort of understand the principle of operation. I'd look through the windshield into the part of the dash where the HUD assembly is, shine a flashlight through the HUD port and see if you can make something out.....?
Good luck.
