RX350 - Unstable on interstate/wind 60-70 MPH
Recently purchased 2010 RX 350 AWD... car handles fairly sloppy on the highway. Smooth ride on local rodes and parkways... on the open interstate with slight winds car feels uncomfortable to drive. Feels unstable (not firm). Not going fast between 60-70. Car has 18" wheels, Bridgestone Dueller H/L in very good condition. Any insight would be appreciated. I hope this was not already answered somewhere. Spent some time trying to find this in the forum. Thanks all!

The fist step would probably be checking the allignment and wheel balance. My vehicle had the same problem though and it turned out to be the rear trailing arm, which I guess is a common issue with the RX. The other signs I had were a squeak from the rear when going over speedbumps as well as an occasional knock that felt like it was under the seat when going over larger bumps.

Thanks. I bought the car at a Lexus dealership and they checked the alignment and balance and said were both fine. I also have a squeak coming from the rear over speedbumps which I asked them to look into. They said they couldn't find the squeaking noise and then they located it coming from the rear seat.

I purchase my RX with part of the original Lexus warranty remaining. I complained about the instability and the squeaking. Took it in 3 times for that and they told me everything looked good each time. They put some lubricant on the seals to quiet the squeaks, but that doesn't fix anything but the noise. So who knows if it really was your driver's seat or if that's what they did. You probably would know where the sound was coming from. Anyways, they won't fix it unless it makes a "clunk". It wasn't until one side got bad enough to start making that noise that they finally "found" the problem and fixed it... After my warranty was over.

Luckily I purchased an additional warranty from CarMax, so that kicked in after the Lexus warranty expired. CarMax covered the repair for my $200 deductible. Without the warranty it would have been $356 for the part and $328 for labor. I had the repair done at a Lexus dealership, but they generally charge about 2x what it should cost. If you go to a regular shop, you can just get an aftermarket part for maybe $150 and then maybe $150 for labor. I'd of course have them inspect it to see if that really is the problem. If so, I'd have both sides done.

I drive my 2014 RX AWD on the highway exclusively. I do notice it's sensitive to sidewinds, as in I have to hold onto the wheel so it doesn't veer off onto another lane. I've taken this to be normal. I have an X5 that behaves similarly. I've taken this to be the way SUV's this size behave when it's windy.
