That is also empty on my RX. Thus it appears you are not missing anything and it was just designed that way for unknown reasons. Maybe in another country they put something in that space. I would not dwell on it any longer. Enjoy your new ride.

That little empty space is where they put my wheel lock key when I got my vehicle. Not sure if it's specifically designed for it but that's where it used to go.

Look up by the wrench. That little chrome thing is the wheel lock key holder on mine. Has a little round area for it. That's how it came to me anyhow.

TPMS is required by federal law so you have it if in the USA. On a 2010 it does not show pressure. It only lights up when one of the tires is low. You then have to figure out which tire. On 2011 you can flip through the steering wheel control toggle to see tire pressures on individual tires (at least that is how it works on my 2011 HS250h) I trust all models were updated.
There is a hidden button under the dash below the steering wheel to reset the trigger pressure for the TPMS system.

The manual shows the reset button on the outside lowerpart of the dash but I don't have a rocker switch or button there. Where's the button located if not where the manual says it is?

You have to lay on the floor on your back and look up using your phone flashlight to see it.

OK. Someone didn't proofread the manual sounds like.

That position for the wheel key makes sense. My dealer just put it in the square space because it's easier to get to for me, although the dealer never has to use it since they have a master. But in the past getting to it for third party folks like Discount Tire was always a hassle, since I have a bunch of stuff in the back, so I finally just got rid of those locks. There are so many RX's out there, with standard wheels that are nothing special, that the risk of getting them stolen is incredibly low. Especially since other drivers in my household have made a few curb marks on them, if someone really wants to risk stealing them, they are way more desperate then I.

But to answer your question, that little square space would otherwise be empty for me too. Might have been occupied by something else in another country as this is a global platform

I found this (and there were other photos that showed the same set up) here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-2014-2...-/163218802277 -- you will see a handle attached to a threaded metal rod -- I believe that that is the device that holds the spare tire in place in the trunk. From this, it would appear that this is a place to store that device when the spare is in use. Just a thought.

could be a good place to store your tire-pressure gauge too

The manual says the power back door hatch (mine will only open manually or with the key fob) can be changed to a power lift back door (i.e. not manually...with a push button perhaps?) by the dealer? Page 625 of the manual says this, or am I reading it wrong? This true? Details if you know how they do it?

Just fell off the first page.

Search would have found you an answer. It is a safety feature [although some dont buy it]. We had a discussion on this not long ago where by a member hit the low garage opening by using the button on the key-fob. There is no button on/near-hatch to lift the hatch with motor. Key-fob or button by the driver or manual lift are your options.
