Hi Folk,
Can someone help me disable smart entry on my 2014 RX350? When I wash the car and the water hits the sensors it keeps locking the doors, I want to temporarily disable smart entry before washing the car and enable it after. Thank you!

Just leave the key fob far enough away that it is out of range of the vehicle. So stop carrying it in your pocket when washing the car!

Open it up and remove the battery. It only takes a few seconds.

You can’t leave the key inside. When water hit the sensor the car will beep and the message in dash telling you your key is still inside. This is the same as locking your car with the key fob inside.

Leave your key fob with the guy behind the desk at the carwash place. Or hide it behind a tree or under a rock fifty or sixty feet away from where you wash your car. Or take someone with you and let them walk far enough away with your key fob.

Thanks for all the elaborate answers....all I was looking for was “no you can’t, your car doesn’t have that option” or “yes, here are the steps in the menu to disable it”
The only real practical tip is from Clutchless “removing the battery” That’s something I can actually do.

Looking at the owner's manual (model year 2010)- pg 34 section 1-2 Opening, closing and locking the doors -- it says there is a battery-saving function -In the following circumstances, the entry function is disabled in order to prevent the vehicle battery from discharging and the electronic key battery from depleting (there are 3 situations - the following seems most pertinent). - When the electronic key has been left within approximately 6ft (2 m) of the vehicle for 10 minutes or more.
your situation is mentioned on page 35 of the manual -- The doors may lock or unlock if the electronic key is within the effective range and a large amount of water splashes on the door handle, such as in the rain or in a car wash. The doors will automatically be locked after approximately 60 second if a door is not opened and closed. Pg 36 offers some information on this - they say to keep the key six feet away from the vehicle (as noted above not practical) - It does say that if you operate the lock operation using the lock sensor, recognition signals will be shown up to two consecutive times. After this, no recognition signals will be given (is it the recognition signal that bothers you?)
can you cover the sensor with some tape prior to washing your car?
Let us know if you figure it out!

In the menu settings in the car, there is an option to disable the electronic key ("Operation when you approach the vehicle with the electronic key on your person".
Page 987 of the manual. Note that this will stay off once set. You have to go back into the menu to switch it back on if you want this feature after you finish washing your car.
