Default Climate controls via remote touch and/or buttons

Hello all,
I am debating between a 2008 RX and a 2010. The 2010 has the remote touch control, which I am a little unsure about (I've heard people loving and hating it, generally). If I hate the nav interface with the remote touch, that's fine, I'll probably use my phone anyway. But after thinking about it, the only 'adjust-this-quick' item I could think of that would be important--while driving--was heating/cooling (assuming I'll be able to control music/voice from the steering wheel). From spending only about two hours perusing the regular and the nav/remote touch manuals (and then being confused by dealer photos), it seems like there *might* be some button controls to the AC (and heating?), even if you have the nav system. FYI, from the pics, the 2010 that I'm interested in does have nav/rear camera, but doesn't have the ML sound system.

So, current 'remote touch' users, what do you use it for, and what don't you use it for? [Maybe that's a separate thread?]

Are you talking about the 'voice command'?
The temp button is conveniently located and although the voice command is by flick of the thumb .. I find the temp button lot more convenient.

The remote touch is the best interface I've ever used. But I use a computer all day long across 3 screens so I'm very good with a mouse. The remote touch allows me to quickly access any function with very slight motions of my fingers. Some models (without nav I think) came with the spinner **** for selecting functions. It requires less skill but I think its less efficient. I've seen some people on computers take several seconds to get the mouse pointer over the "OK" button. Mousing is just not in everyone's tool kit. If this is you, you'll probably dislike the remote touch feature too.

The nav feature is certainly not as good as a modern phone app, but to be honest, I much prefer the onboard nav for two reasons:
a) nice big screen
b) half the time I use it I'm not necessarily needing navigation, but just quickly looking at the map for a possible short cut in traffic, just seeing how the neighbouring streets connect. I can dial that up with one button press. The convenience of not having to mount and mess with my phone while driving is why I like the on-board nav, with all its obsolescence.

Thanks. I wasn't talking about the voice command (how good is it?), but it's good to hear there is a temp button.

Thanks. I am mouse-friendly (long time computer user, two monitors). Can't wait for the test drive.

You can use a lot of the A/C system without needing to go to the climate page on the nav system. Only thing I’d really change would be having an additional Dual button.

I just use the control like any other car since they are all easily available from my fingers. Going through the mouse just takes longer and is more distracting.
