If you don’t want to be crashed by an unstable Android system. You can choose the original style screen plus an external Android box. We could ensure the Lexus factory system could still working even android system crashsuddenly.
Late to the discussion however I feel obligated to share my struggles in regards to these units. Especially the ones from Nunoo (translates to no,no,no) and Navirider. In case some of you are not aware, these units require a LOT of workaround and alterations to the car equipment that may cause further complications. I believe I'm a technically inclined person with over 30 years of experience and after a fairly quick installation of the cables, I quickly discovered that most functionalities would NOT be a "plug&play" type. In fact several of my OEM functionalities went "crazy" after following their instructions (PCS+BSM+Eng. lights on). my backup camera lost the guiding yellow lane, 27 P codes logged on ECU.....not to mention the amateur approach to the whole concept...the sound is thru the AUX jack, no utilization of OEM GPS or microphone, etc,,,,
Definitely not wort the hassle, much less the $600.00 price tag, for you to have to do all that work.
Perhaps some of the other units being sold (Lexion, Beat-sonic) may be a better option even with a higher price tag.
There are few problems with the unit:
1. Instead of reverse camera picture it will show pink screen sometimes - annoying.
2. The reverse camera picture is quite dark on a sunny day.
Unless they somehow fix it, I have to install a new reversing camera.
3. Phone book favorites doesn't work. Maybe fixable with another app or I hope the they will fix it.
4. When using the head unit to make phone calls, it uses that small speaker and the sound isn't good.
I was hoping when the system is on AUX audio, it will use the car speakers. Then again I can use Lexus system for calls.
5. Unit allows you to change voice assistant to factory / android / none, but factory assistant will always activate. This is unusable.
Ah that's such a shame, I was having such high hopes for them. In particular, the rear view camera sounds like a dealbreaker. I definitely don't look forward to routing a reverse camera all the way to the back of the car...
Factory camera is old and on high res screen it's picture looks bad and dark.
I was hoping to install aftermarket camera with factory wiring, but I don't know if thats possible.
Or maybe newer lexus cameras will fit.
Problem 3 - with phone book isn't a problem as I'm using Android Auto and it's content comes from the phone.
Problem 4 - phone call also isn't a problem anymore - had to change a setting, but you have to keep the audio on AUX.
Then again it really is much more usable than old screen.
When Android Auto activates and Waze, Spotify starts up - it looks nice.
Looks great! I have two questions, maybe you can answer. One, does it let Android Auto or Carplay go "full screen" (i.e., full width) or is it limited to the smaller sized window? Second, can the air conditioner be changed from Celsius to Fahrenheit? Thanks!
The factory interface shows up automatically when you access radio or try to reverse the car - if you use factory reverse camera.
It is also accessible from main screen - icon "Car Device"
Thanks! Any chance you can find the link of the one you purchased (since that store you bought from doesn't appear to have that model any longer)? Or maybe one of the ones I found is similar/close enough.
