Default 2012 RX Passenger Air Bag Light

Hi -

Buying a 2012 RX and had a quick question -
I had test driven many 2010-2011 RX 350s but was always just me in the vehicle. I have a deposit on an one owner 2012 (with 130K on it) and I noticed that this light was on during the entire test drive (salesman sitting next to me in passenger seat). It is off when no one is sitting in the passenger seat, but comes on when someone is sitting there. I have done some research and it appears that that light is supposed to come on to show the entire restraint system is working. Does it ever turn off (with a passenger)?
I searched through the forums and the owners manual but not finding confirmation on this.
I checked the vehicle through Lexus Drivers (found my old 1999 ES 300 was still in there) and there is nothing in the history to indicate that the previous owner had an issue with this.

It's great to be back in a Lexus again....

Does this light stay on when a passenger sits in the car?

That is normal for Lexus/Toyota vehicles. The light will remain on when someone heavy enough is in the front passenger seat.
Good Luck with the car. FYI you can join the Lexus drivers site linked below, enter the vehicle VIN and see its dealer service history

Our 2011 RX350 has that same light. It operates the same as yours. We found it annoying, too bright, at first, but we don't notice it any more. Congratulations on your new ride. You will like it.
I changed the rear shocks to KYB shocks from Rock Auto. Seemed to give a smoother ride. This is the best car I've ever owned.

Thanks!
Went to pickup the car today and before I could mention it, wife asked the salesman about the light during her test drive (have to make sure the queen is happy) and he confirmed that it is on all the time with an adult in the seat - He followed up with it's when there is NO light and someone is sitting there that there is an issue.

Clutchless - I logged into drivers.lexus before the purchase and found that they still had my old 99 ES in the system - kind of cool -
I found out that the TPS sensors had been replaced on the RX two months ago, so the care of the interior seems to synch with the mechanical care. This thing looks and rides like a new vehicle!
