Default RX 450h Bluetooth/Siri

Hi everyone, I only recently purchased my 2010 RX450h from my brother in law. I'm trying to figure out how to correct or fix an issue I'm having with my iphone 11 and the car. I connected the phone so that I can make and receive calls through the car. That's working fine, but I can not talk text, use siri or even view a video one of my daughters sent me (when stopped waiting to pick one of my girls up or waiting on line somewhere) because the car always thinks I"m trying to make a call. I've been looking through the manuals but don't see anything specific to this issue. Does anyone know if it's possible to talk text (through the car or just using the phone) or use siri without the car always thinking I'm trying to make a phone call? Thanks for your input!! Kate

Are you pressing and holding the call button to get Siri? if I just press it I get the vehicle's system to prompt me about placing a call. If I hold it until I see something like "Mobile Assistant" on the screen and hear the ding, I get Siri.

I don't think the 2010 BT functions support texting or any other advanced pass through voice features, I believe that came with the 2013 mid-generation refresh. When you talk to your RX, you are only talking to the RX, not to your phone's voice capabilities.

2009 Lexi only paired BT for the phone, no media connection or USB jacks.
2010 - 2012 Lexi have BT for both phone call and media but you pair them separately
2013 and newer pair the BT and it connects for both automatically.

OP - press menu on the center console and set up on the screen. You have already
been here and selected phone to pair for calls... Now select Audio and pair your phone again.
Note: the car will pair with up to four (4) phones and up to two (2) media devices, your phone will be both.
Check for previously paired devices and remove at least one to make a slot available.

Be certain your phone volume is at least 1/2 up to provide adequate sound.
The 2010 does not have Siri Eyes Free but if you "illegally" reach over and press the
appropriate phone button you will hear the trill and can proceed to text by voice, command
iTune tracks by Artist or Song, etc.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Sorry to the OP. I probably should have mentioned that I have a 2015.
