USB Ports

Sort of. It depends on what you want.
In 2011 they corrected this design failure and added a power outlet at the lower center console. You can buy aftermarket add on power outlets with a USB outlet next to it and have it wired to your fuse box with a fuse extender. I added just the power outlet to my RX, but I have installed many car audio systems, so the wiring was not difficult. There are threadson this.
The center console part just pops out with a trim remover. The fuse box is under the dash to the left of the steering column. I think it was fuse 13 and I got a micro fuse bridge thing which fits into the fuse box and has a place for the fuses built in and wires coming from it to connect to the new power outlet. You just run it behind the carpet & dash and snake it into the console area. Then run a ground wire to a bolt on the floor and hook both to your new power outlet. You need to drill a hole for the power outlet. Or hire a car stereo shop to do the work.

If it's for music then I don't think that can be achieved.

You are correct.
The added on power ports can only be used to charge your phones.
Only the USB hidden inside the center armrest can be used as a music drive.

2010 usb
I have owned a 2010 RX350 for about a month. At first the usb tab showed when I had the iPhone connected. The other day I tried a formatted USB drive with audio and it would not recognize it. Formated NTFS, which I now know is wrong. Reformatted to FAT32 and still doesn't work. I gave up on the drive, but now it doesn't recognize the iPhone when connected to the USB port. From the beginning I was unable to make the BT Audio work. The BT for phone has always worked. I thought that it must be one or the other, until today it finally paired my iPhone for BT audio. still no USB tab. Any suggestions.
