Default Whats lurking under your RX rear seat challenge.

I purchased my Rx350 used from dealer. Had to remove my seats and look what I found.
It was a pain to get the seats out but worth if after what was under there.
Hardest part was getting the cable connection undone. (
)
I also suggest your take the battery terminal off, because removing the rear seats require you to unplug 2 air bag clips.

Also wanted to add the pics of what the cable connector looks like.
To remove:
First remove the retaining clip by pulling it up.
Second remove the cap side closer to the rear
Remove the cap closer to the front by twisting seen in video (this will pop the front cap and the top cover off in one.
There is also a two part video on youtube from another year RX, however he uses a small screwdriver and took a long time. I think its meant to snap off like the first video.
It is impossible to slide off the whole mechanism off the metal mount that is on the seat. (you will be able to see what I am talking about after you get the seat off)

Here is the other video. Takes a long time to get his point across

Here are my pics of the airbag wire and the cable wire.
Note in the 2010 looks like the miscalculated where the hole would go for those two things to exit through the carpet. lol Would love to see if they fix that problem in the newer models. (the socket extension is pointing to the precut hole thats not being used.

.
When reinstalling:
Remove the body of the cylinder off the seat by using a small flat head
Place the cable with barrel coming from the handle in the cylinder, and snap rear cap on.
Pull the cable coming from the seat out as much as you can. Note it will only come out a couple cm
Catch the end of the front cable and connect it to the barrel from the rear cable.
Snap on the top part of the cylinder
Snap on the retaining clip at the top.
Test that seat folds.. Do not pull the lever hard if the cable seems tight. Go back to the cable mechanism and remove the retaining clip. Wiggle the lever a few times. Then put the retaining clip back on.
Once the lever is working well. Then slide the entire cable mechanism on the seat mount.
Finally plug in your air bag

If you accept the challenge of cleaning under this seat. Post pics.

Well done....

I try to avoid purchasing vehicles that were known to be rug-rat haulers for this very reason.
