Default Replacing Fog Bulb - 2015 RX350

Hi everyone,

I just recently had some new HID bulbs installed, and wanted to have my mechanic also change the fog bulbs as well. I purchased some Osram headlights and some Philips LEDS for the fog. The mechanic put in the new headlights, but did not install the Philips fog bulbs. He told me that they don't fit with my setup, and that I can only replace with OEM halogen bulbs. I'm scratching my head because it seems from research online that a lot of folks opt for this bulb for their Lexus. Before I return these bulbs I wanted to check with the experts on here to see if this is true, or should I seek out a new mechanic for a second opinion.

What I have on hand is the Philips LED-FOG [H8/H11/H16] X-tremeUltinon LED.

The fog light housing is small and they may not fit.

I was able to upgrade my fog lights with LEDs i bought from Amazon. Did your mechanic simply look at the bulb and determine that or he actually tried to fit it?

I get the feeling that he just looked at the box and didn't try to install. Which led bulb did you get on Amazon? Did you think it was an improvement from the halogen?

They should fit as per Philips website. I replaced mine without having to remove anything (bumper, liner, etc). If you can slide your arm down, you will be able to reach for the light bulb to twist out and at least check if there's differences.

I'm sure your mechanic did not want any legal liability. Maybe the LED bulbs you got are not DOT approved for fog light use? (not all LED's on the market are). If you got them from Amazon, they may not be DOT approved even if it says so on the box.
I bet your mechanics insurance policy prevents him from installing any aftermarket lights. There are more and more court cases about accidents caused by blinding aftermarket lights.
